Résumé

Urban sprawl increased the possibility of residential choices while innovations in transport increased travel opportunities. In this context, decision makers and transport operators are currently facing new challenges to anticipate mobility changes in the framework of a more sustainable city planning. The aim of this paper is to present the simulation platform MobiSim applied on the example of Besancon, and to show how it reconstructs geographic information in order to simulate individual mobility. From French standard databases provided by IGN and INSEE, the mobility of a synthetic population of agents is modeled using an approach similar to four step models. The simulations provided by the platform are validated by comparing results with data collected in travel surveys (EMD). It shows that the model can be used to help decision making in urban planning and transport policies.
