Résumé | Amongst the numerous techniques of pollutant removal or recovery in commercial and industrial use, adsorption on activated carbons and ion-exchange on synthetic organic resins are the procedures of choice and give the best results, as they can be used to remove different types of dyes. However, although these commercial materials are the preferred conventional adsorbents for dye removal, their widespread industrial use is restricted due to high cost. As such, alternative non-conventional adsorbents are proposed as inexpensive and efficient materials. In this chapter, an extensive list of non-conventional adsorbent literature has been compiled and results in terms of adsorption capacities discussed. Each material is also illustrated by precise examples from among the works published in the literature. |
