Résumé

With a dramatic increase of incidence and a very poor prognosis, the treatment of pancreatic cancer remains a challenge. Pancreatic cancer can be completely cured only by means of surgery. Unfortunately, the majority of cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage, where palliative chemotherapy can be administered to alleviate the symptoms and prolong life. Although pancreatic carcinogenesis has not yet been explained, familial agregation, tobacco smoking, and hypercaloric intake are associated with pancreatic carcinogenesis. Till date, either prevention or screening programs could yet be proposed.
